The Best of Basics
I feel like I've been posting so much about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so today I'm taking it back to a post that I've been wanting to share for quite a while. If you know me well, you know that basics are my thing - especially a great v-neck tee. I live in some form of one at least 5 out of 7 days each week. Most days it's just something comfortable, affordable, and easy that I quickly put on to get to work in the mornings, but any time I'm actually going to be out around people, I have a few that I always go to. While I've tried countless different clothing lines over the years and have a nearly embarrassing collection of basic tees, Everlane tees are the ones that I always reach for first.
Haven't heard of Everlane? I hadn't either a few years ago. I was google searching for great basic tees and luckily found their website. I ordered a couple of v-neck tees and a scoop neck one as well. Once I received that first order, I was hooked.
The real test for me when it comes to a basic tee lies in the quality of the white fabric. If I can see my hand through it, it's out. When it's 90-something degrees in the middle of summer and you're looking for a lightweight top for an outdoor event, I don't want to worry about whether or not you can see my bra. That first v-neck tee that I bought was white. And it was opaque. And it was lightweight and breathable.
You've got to be thinking that this tee, while it sounds great, probably has a steep price tag, right? This one - the cotton v-neck is only $15! Everlane is all about radical transparency. They detail out exactly what their costs are in producing the product you're buying and their markup so you know exactly what you're paying for.
I've tried out quite a few tees from Everlane and have loved all of them except for one, the luxe drape deep v tee. It was just a bit too sheer for my taste, but the cut was still impeccable.
